MT Testing and Demagnetization

ompact, mobile testing devices are ideal for testing components for surface cracks on-site. This allows for the testing and ensuing demagnetization of various difficult to access areas.
Our smallest devices weigh only 10-15 kg, yet still have a peak current of up to 8,000 A with a common 230V power supply. This way, depending on sheet thickness, mobile mounting of test surfaces of up to 2 m is possible.
This dual case design mobile testing device is used especially in tight spaces and containers. Adherence to accident prevention regulations is always ensured. Power supply and testing device are stored in separate cases.

Even our highest-output devices with current strengths up to 3 x 30,000 A can be moved by hand, stacker truck or forklift and allow for mobile use due to their compact, wheeled cases.

Stationary Testing Devices

MT testing and demagnetization of complex component geometries

Using stationary testing units, various steel components can be MT tested and demagnetized in a stationary environment. Depending on the scope of application, the DC and AC pulse technology allows for novel application methods for MT testing and demagnetization.
With the contact-free method, magnetic test fields are generated in two coils arranged at a certain angle towards each other and then conducted into the component. This causes stray fields to leak from the cracks and cause a clearly defined accumulation of magnetic powder particles contained within the test medium. This ensures sharp, clear crack indications.

According to this principle, we manufacture MT testing tables which are suitable for the simultaneous MT testing of several compact components for longitudinal and transverse defects.

We also offer MT testing units in combination with a corner coil. In these corner coils, gears with outside diameters ranging from only a few millimeters to over 10 meters can be tested and demagnetized contact-free, quickly and economically.

Measuring Equipment and Accessories

Pulse Test Currents, Pulse Test Field Strength and Residual Field Strength

HPT Hirsch Prüftechnik GmbH measuring devices gauge relevant measurements for magnetic particle testing and demagnetization. These devices are used for inertia-free and non-inductive measurement of pulse test current strength, pulse field strength, and residual field strength.

We also offer suitable accessories for all of our measuring- and testing devices:


  • Magnetic poles for MT testing with current flow
  • UV test light with white-light superimposition
  • UV LED light for the detection of fluorescent crack indications
  • Equipment trolley for mobile use with various shelves
